Mission Statement: To work with the Board of Supervisors to provide consistent management of Clark County's budget, accounting, payroll, human resources, information technology and insurance programs.

General Information - The Department of Administration works with County Board to provide consistent management of the County's budget, accounting, personnel, payroll, information systems and insurance programs. The Department also assists the Board, committees and commissions to uniformly coordinate policies and to carry out their responsibilities.

The Department of Administration reports to the Personnel Committee; Executive, Legislative and Judicial Committee; and the Finance Committee.

The scope of duties can be represented in the following functions:

Personnel/Payroll/Benefit Administration - Works cooperatively with the Personnel Committee administering related policies, providing direction to the collective bargaining process and administration of seven (7) bargaining agreements, advises committee and administers county benefit package and assists with the hiring process as requested. Prepares payroll for all county employees. County payroll/benefits for 2002 is estimated at $23,391,700.

Budget/Accounting - Under direction of the Finance Committee, establishes procedures, format and priorities in preparing a $50,000,000+ county budget. Presents and executes county budget. Assists Committee and Board with reporting and financial planning. The department serves as internal auditor and processes all payments per policies.

Information Systems - Coordinates the development and maintenance of the County's information systems hardware and software; acquisition and modification of systems; and, vendor agreements.

Insurance Administration - Is responsible in working with the Committee to procure insurance coverage for the County and its employees and administers the insurance programs for the county.

The department is also assigned some general administrative, meeting attendance and legislative duties.
