Welcome to Adult Development Services. ADS, located in Greenwood, WI, is a non-profit community rehabilitation program operated by Clark County. In existence since 1972 and in its present location since 1980, ADS provides work opportunities to a wide range of individuals with developmental, physical, and mental disabilities.

The underlying concept for providing this service is the belief that work plays a fundamental role in our lives. It gives a sense of identity, self-worth, and contribution to our lives. It gives a sense of identity, self-worth and  contribution to our society, as well as a source of income. This opportunity should be available in some form to anyone choosing to participate.

Mission Statement: To provide the highest quality of rehabilitation work services possible to individuals with disabilities in Clark County. This service will be tailored to meet the needs if a diverse population in both facility-based and community based work settings. Services will be provided in a manner that maximizes outcomes with the most efficient use of resources.

Adult Development Services (ADS) is a community rehabilitation program that provides work services to adults with disabilities. It is one of only a few County-operated work centers in Wisconsin; the majority being private, non-profit. Our primary purpose is to offer a variety of opportunities to individuals so that they can take an active role in experiencing the world of work.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Building constructed in 1980. Addition completed in 1990.
  • Current budget of $1.6 million. Revenue over $1.2 million.
  • ADS must be competitive in the business world in order to provide suitable and adequate work experiences for its clientele.
  • Over 90 individuals served in 2001. Current number in programs is 75.
  • Services provided in both facility-based (sheltered work) and community- based (supported employment) programs.
  • Client worker payroll will exceed $250,000 this year.

FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT

  • Employs workers in a commercial food operation setting.
  • Over 94,000 meals served in 2001. Contracts with Clark County Jail, Office of Aging (3 Nutrition sites), and a daycare center.
  • Clark Pizza operation produces and markets frozen pizzas to over 75 stores, taverns, corporate farms, and fund-raisers in a 60-mile radius.
  • Over $96,000 in pizza sales in 2001.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

  • Employs workers in assembly, bagging, mailing, and light manufacturing operations.
  • Contracts are procured through out-sourcing with area businesses and industries.
  • Approximately 35 clients per day employed on piece-rated and hourly jobs.
  • Recently acquired 24' delivery truck allows shipping of product to customer.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT DEPARTMENT

  • Employs 30 workers in community-based work settings.
  • Necessary support for worker is provided by job coaches.
  • Total supported employment hours worked in 2001: 16,500

REHABILITATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT

  • Provides intake, evaluation, case management, and counseling services to clients.
  • Vocational evaluation assesses individuals' strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes, and interests, and makes recommendations for appropriate work program.
  • Referrals are accepted from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Clark County Community Services, or other outside referral source.
