Mission Statement: The Mission of the Clark County Aging Office is to provide services which will allow older folks an opportunity to live their life productively, independently, and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible..
Services provided by our agency includes:
ELDERLY NUTRITION PROGRAM: Meals are served both in a Congregate and
Homebound setting in nine nutrition centers throughout Clark County (Abbotsford, Colby, Dorchester,
Greenwood, Humbird, Loyal, Neillsville, Owen, and Thorp).
ALZHEIMER'S FAMILY & CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM:
Funds are available to provide respite care, adult day care, supportive home care, or other services
families caring for a loved one with dementia may need. In addition, there is an Alzheimer's Support
Group that meets the second Tuesday of the Month at the Neillsville Senior Citizen's Center.
The Aging Office also has a loan library of videos and educational materials on dementia.
NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVER GRANT: This federal grant provides respite care and other
services for family caregivers. Funds are available to develop resources such as the Resource Library
on second floor, update the agency resource directory, and other projects.
INFORMATION & REFERRAL SERVICES: We provide basic information on services to the
elderly, assist them in completing applications (fuel assistance, homestead credit, vial of life, etc.),
and making referrals to the appropriate agencies when additional information or services are needed.
BENEFIT SPECIALIST SERVICES: This person provides current information on private and
public benefits and assists elderly persons in accessing services and resolving problems with insurance, consumer
fraud, Patient Assistance, Social Security, Medicare, Medical Assistance, etc. There is assistance for the
elderly in appealing denial of benefits and in appealing overpayments.
MEDICARE PART D COUNSELING: Information and assistance is available for folks age 60 and older who need information about the new Medicare Part D plan and help in finding a plan that will meet their needs.
HEALTH SCREENINGS: The Aging Office sponsors two Senior Citizen's Health Fairs
during the year. The Northern Clark County Health Fair in the spring in Abbotsford and the Southern
one in the fall at Neillsville. There are other opportunities promoting the health and well being
of the elderly from Blood Pressure Screenings, foot care, exercise classes, to immunizations.
TELE-CARE: Volunteers make daily phone checks on frail elderly to make sure they are okay.
CRAFT SHOP: There are two Senior Citizen's Craft Shops where folks can bring in their hand
made articles for sale on a consignment basis. They are located at the Neillsville Senior Citizen's Center and
the Aging Office.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES: Grocery Shopping trips are provided weekly in Neillsville and
Abbotsford. Transportation is available to the Nutrition Centers in some areas. For Medical

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: a variety of activities are available at the Nutrition and Senior Centers.
NEWSLETTER: The Aging office publishes a monthly newsletter. It is available on tape for the visually impaired.
ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT & VISUAL AID LOAN LIBRARY: There is a limited supply of adaptive equipment
to loan out for folks who may need these items.
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: There are many opportunities to volunteer your time and talent
at the local Nutrition Centers. Activities may include health screenings, serving meals, serving on an
Advisory Committee, making Tele-Care calls, and others.
FOOD PANTRY: Through the generous donations of the community, we are able to maintain a
Food Pantry to assist older folks in need of food.
OUTREACH: Home Visits are made to the frail elderly to assist them in accessing services.
