Mission Statement:
The Clark County Planning and Zoning Department continually strives
to provide quality service and
products regarding land information, land use, survey, rural addressing, and
ordinance administration.
The Clark County Planning
and Zoning and Land Information Department handle a variety of land use and
development issues. This department protects Clark County's natural resources
through the administration and enforcement of land management
ordinances. This
department issues
sanitary permits,
land use permits, and nonmetallic mine
reclamation permits.
Land use permits are issued, when required, for
development in shoreland or wetland zoned areas, forest and recreation zoned
areas, and mapped floodplain areas.
This department’s
Surveying Division remonuments section corners and surveys county-owned lands.
Clark County has increased remonumentation efforts in the last few years to
reestablish and maintain many neglected section corners.
Land information is
managed and updated utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
Many of the digital land information data layers are compiled and created by
this department. This information is available through a free GIS site that
provides a minimum of data layers or a fee-based site that includes additional
data layers and also provides access to other county department records.
The Clark County Planning
and Zoning Department has assisted local municipalities in developing
comprehensive plans. The adopted
plans, supplemental planning documents, and additional reference maps and
documents are also available online for public use.
